Crackpots stocks a comprehensive range of ropes suited to marine, recreational and rural industries. We can cut to size, and offer a splicing service including hard and soft eyes to meet specific pen or anchoring requirements.
Our premium quality, high strength, hardwearing double construction PE and PP ropes have been developed specifically for West Australian fishing industries, and West Australian conditions. We don’t stock inferior or cheap brands because we recognise that our customers need quality that functions successfully at the extreme end of their specifications. Dealing directly with our manufacturers gives us complete control over the method of construction and materials used, and because we buy in bulk our prices are extremely competitive.
We also stock a wide range of premium quality lead core, silver and double braided polyester ropes; high density polystyrene and hard plastic fishing floats; net floats, float savers, leads and twines and marine accessories.
Polypropylene (PP Danline) ropes
Crackpots is the only WA stockist of premium Danline Double Construction Polypropylene Ropes. Experience and product development has shown these ropes to consistently provide superior coiling and handling characteristics, as well as high breaking strain.
Our Polypropylene (PP Danline) rope is high tenacity specifically designed for the fishing industry. Our proprietary construction method results in a significantly higher breaking strain than other PP ropes. Often called ‘rag rope’, PP is used almost exclusively by professional & amateur crayfishers up and down the WA coast.
Key features include:
- High tensile strength
- Excellent coiling characteristics
- Low slippage
- High resistance to abrasion
- Range of colours:pink, yellow, blue, green, black
- Available in 4-36mm
- UV stable – resistant to sunlight, chemical attack, rot and mildew
- Floats on water
Polyethylene (PE) ropes
Our premium Double Construction Polyethylene (PE) ropes have excellent handling characteristics, are extremely hard wearing and exhibit extended longevity. This is achieved using the Double Construction method, an essential component of the fabrication process, where round monofilament yarns are ‘locked’ against each other to produce strength that can cope with the harshest conditions.
Shiny and smooth in appearance, PE is ideally suited to conditions where excellent abrasion resistance is required.
- Excellent coiling characteristics
- More ‘give’ than PP, tensile strength slightly lower
- Colours: orange, yellow and black
- Excellent UV resistance
- Floats on water
- Available in medium-hard and hard lay
PE Silver Rope
100% Polyethylene Staple Rope is strong and versatile, with excellent handling properties and high resistance to abrasion. It is widely used by yachties and recreational boaties and fishermen for mooring, anchoring, tie downs and general purpose.
- Silver/white appearance and characteristic hairiness
- Medium soft lay
- Excellent holding and handling properties
- Strong but very economical general purpose
- Used for a wide range of applications, including tie downs, mooring ropes, anchor ropes and securing loads.
- Good tensile strength, high resistance to abrasion and excellent coiling characteristics
Double Braid Polyester Rope
Our 16 and 24 plait sheen finish rope has a 100% polyester jacket and core. This high quality, Australian-made double braided polyester rope is used extensively where high breaking strain and exceptionally abrasive and harsh environmental conditions exist, and is used extensively for a variety of marine, recreational and industrial applications including anchor ropes, mooring, rigging, industrial plant, climbing, commercial fishing and arboreal activities. It has excellent grip and glides easily through blocks and winches.
- UV stable – resistant to sunlight, chemical attack, rot and mildew
- Single or double braided
- Sinks in water
- 4-20mm diameter
- Available as a fleck on natural white, or solid red, blue, green, gold and black.
Lead Core Ropes
Used mainly in the commercial fishing industry, propylene lead core has many applications in the net fishing, crab, crayfish and octopus fishing industries.
- Braided 6 and 8mm, PE jacket
- 3-strand Polypropylene in 11, 12 and 14mm
- Soft medium and medium hard lay available
